I know Wednesday is normally a Gintlemen day, but I wanted to get this blog post live in plenty of time for Christmas. And you’ll see why.
Ahh Christmas dinner.
For some (like me, I admit) it’s quite easy. There’s just me and Mr GFB. We have what we want, not what tradition dictates. I do all the cooking. I do the prep in Christmas Eve, so I pretty much just switch it on the next day.
But I can remember Christmas dinner at home. Four kids, two adults (three when my aunt lived with us). Table laden with rib of beef (no turkey in our house, dad didn’t like it), sprouts (I love them, sorry), every vegetable imaginable, loads of mashed potato, and all the gravy.
I can also remember mum sitting with a giant bowl on her knee, carefully prepping sprouts in the living room (this was of course before every room in a house had a telly) after dad had collected them from the allotment. There were so many bloody sprouts. Not just for Christmas day, but for Boxing Day, where tradition dictated there should be bubble and squeak with bacon and fried eggs for breakfast.
Seriously, for 6 people, that’s a lot of sprouts.
I come from a family of feeders. We show love by making good food, and plenty of it. But on a big day like Christmas day, it can be a nightmare. Especially if you’ve got friends or family coming. And if you’ve got kids – fitting all that in, in between shopping, and their excitement (and subsequent tears before bedtime when it’s still not Christmas yet and they want that pretty thing on the shelf in the supermarket) is a challenge. To add in Christmas day food prep and planning and shopping, when you’ve everything else to do…
So, what if I told you that Hello Fresh can help? They not only have a Christmas Dinner Guide you can download, which includes oodles of timings and recipe ideas, but, they also have a Christmas Box. Yes, they can even do the shopping for you. Turkey and all the trimmings.
What’s more, I get to give one away.
To one of you lot.
I have to admit, I wish I could give one to all of you, but that would be very very expensive and until I win the Lotto… In the meantime, we have this one box of goodies that could wend it’s way to you in time for Christmas.
So, what do you have to do to enter?
Not much. Download the Hello Fresh Christmas guide from here, and then tell me who is coming to your house for Christmas dinner.
