This weekend saw me donning a branded polo shirt and for once, putting myself the other side of the bar at Liverpool Whisky Festival.
Well, the display stand anyway.
I spent the day chatting to whisky fans – both the experienced sippers and the newbies, introducing them to the full range of blends we had on offer, as well as Darnley’s View, and the new make spirit, hot off the still from their newly opened Kingsbarns Distillery.
And once again this weekend, I’ll pop that polo shirt back on, because it’s the return of The Liquor Market for the third year. Yes that excuse to sample new booze from around the world under one roof, returning to Elixir Tonics & Treats for its second year.
I’ve visited every year so far, tasting new gins, whiskies and vodkas, and this year promises to be better than ever, not only will I be there with Wemyss, but there will be pretties from Warner Edwards gin, the Professor Cornelius Ampleforth range, Pinkster Gin, Belsazar Vermouth, Jewel Isle Rum Punch and in a step away from the spirits, local brewery Robinsons will be showcase two new lines.
Everything kicks off at 2pm, so you have a full four hours of tasting time, with experts and brand representatives on hand to chat to you and answer your questions. For booze enthusiast and bartender alike, it’s a great way to try before you buy.
Tickets are only £11.50 per person, and available via the Manchester Food and Drink Festival website.
And if you book – make sure you stop by and say hello!
